Tootin' Our Laser
We don't like to brag, but it's tough not to in a case like this. This is a wonderful pen-shaped laser pointer, 5-1/4" long, flat black or silver with gold pocket clip and head. It throws a red point a loong way (we've thrown it two city blocks at night, and it would've gone farther, but buildings got in the way). And what are we so proud of? We've seen a very similar item-not identical, mind you, but essentially the same-in one of those glossy, toys-for-grown-men catalogs. Their price? $40! We're proud not to be profit-mongers, buy it here and you can take pride in your smart shopping habits. Batteries included. (Please note color change to include silver.)

A Little Lightning
Despite parental advice, here's a good reason to sit in in a dark room and think small. This Plasma Storm isn't as large as a standard plasma ball, so not only is it much more affordable -- the effect is concentrated and startling. The black plastic base has a switch. Turn it on at which point the 3" dia plastic globe (think baseball size) is filled with blue stems that flare to pink, looking like dozens of electric flowers searching for a way out. Very cool. Comes with a 6-ft power cord with transformer.

Major League Laser
We've never been more serious about saying "This is not a toy." Our 10mW green laser pointer (532nm wavelength) with a 7-3/4" long x 7/8" dia black-steel case is powered by (2) included "AA" batteries. Comes with a master (and an extra) key switch, a dongle safety switch, and a carrying/storage case of dense black foam. Must be turned on in a specific sequence, and has a 2-second delay. Range is 20,000 feet in darkness. Class IIIB. These sell elsewhere for up to $178.

Light It Up
With the emphasis on UP. Our battery-operated display base is 3-3/4" dia x 1-7/8" tall, with a black rubber and plastic outer surface and a top surface that's a mirror with (4) colored LEDs in the center. Turn it on and the LEDs sequence through a random pattern and light up your award, cocktail, crystal sculpture, or anything else you put on it. The circumference has a lightly patterned, tire-like rubber ring, which is removable. Why the bargain? That "batteries included" should read "dead batteries included." You'll need to add (3) "AAA"s.

The Green Hornet's Laser
Because the Red Hornet's laser pointers are a dime a dozen. The green ones are a serious step up in manufacturing costs -- plus this one is very impressive, with a visible green beam in the dark. Use it under the stars for astronomy classes. Point out a building's finer points during architectural tours. Amuse your audience during dull, illustrated lectures in big, dim auditoriums. The sturdy 5mW laser pointer has a push-on/push-off switch, far preferable to a momentary switch when you're using it during a long presentation. Comes with (2) "AAA" batteries and a great little flip-top steel tin to store it in. The pointer measures 6-1/2" x 1/2" dia.

The Ultra (Violet) Pocket Light
Our pocket-sized mini-flashlight has (8) ultraviolet LEDs and myriad uses, from checking for counterfeit U.S. currency to working the door at hip downtown clubs, spotting radiator and transmission fluid leaks, mineral identification, and (yes, it's true) finding scorpions in the dark. Black-Light Magic Pen
