History Project
Unfortunately this grand assortment of flags from America's past came without explanatory text - or maybe that's fortunate. Might make a challenging research project for a young historian. Cloth flags, about 4" x 6" (sizes vary slightly), on 10-1/2" gold plastic staffs. They even come from a U.S. manufacturer! Not all are U.S. national flags, but as near as we can tell all are part of American history. You'll get a shipment of (5) different flags. Wave on!

Sarcastic Ball
We've all seen those 4" dia balls that give answers to questions. Well this one does it with sarcasm: "Yeah, right," "Ask me if I care," and "Oh, please," are examples. As our regular customers know, we don't carry items like this, but sometimes we find them in our warehouse and list them just to get rid of them. So please help us out and buy yours now. Sure! (Sorry folks. Due to unforeseen circumstances the sarcastic ball is out til Jan. 2008.)

Swinging Balls
The classic swinging balls, to amuse you on slow days in the office or physics lab, and to demonstrate Newton's Third Law. Drop one of the five hanging balls, one flies out from the other end; drop two and two fly out; drop three and it's amazing. The balls are set in a 7" x 9" x 9" high wooden frame. Isaac didn't invent these mesmerizing toys, by the way. That took Simon Prebble (whom some of you may remember as the evil Martin Chedwyn on "As the World Turns") who had an energy transference inspiration in 1967. (Where else can one learn these things?)

Spectroscope
Good value hand held plastic spectroscope. It uses a diffraction grating to create the spectrum against a small measurement scale. (Hold it a couple of inches away from your eye for best results.) Fine for introductory science and demonstrating principles, and general observation, but not a precision instrument. Comes with simple instructions and explanatory write up.

Here's my Card
Clever little plastic boxes 4-1/2" x 2-1/4" x 1" hold note paper - and dispense one sheet at a time as you open and close the cover. The clear red box is labeled "Mom," the clear pink box says "Grandma." They work even better with business cards, so they make great little gifts if Mom or Gram has her own cards. We'll send you a bag of (3) with at least one of each design.

Flying Bird
From France comes this fun mechanical plastic bird that really flies by flapping its wings. It is about 8" long and has a wingspan of 16" tip to tip. Snap the wings in place, wind up the rubberband drive and toss it gently into the air on its maiden flight. It flies up to fifty yards with a satisfying fluttering sound. Comes with a spare rubberband drive mechanism.

Break Your Own Geodes
Pop one of these roughly 1-1/4" dia stones into the toe of a sock, smash it with a hammer, and be the first person ever to see your real-as-Nature-makes-it geode!! Ninety percent of them have the familiar beautiful white crystals inside. Formed by volcanic action, they are found all over the world, but ours are from Mexico. There is no way to tell from the outside if they have crystal centers, but we will send you two just to raise your odds, and we haven't had a dud yet in our stores!! Much much more fun and satisfaction than buying one already cracked.

Collecting staple removers instead of rare stamps? Here's a start: In addition to the standard 2-1/8" long V-shaped, 4-fanged remover, we have a 3-3/4" long scissors-type staple puller with a finger hole and thumb pad. Counting your thumbnail, that would make three, so far.
