WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD-This toy is or contains a small ball. Not for children under 3 yrs.
Instant annoyance for adults and fun for kids, 8 and over. A pair of balls 13/16" in diameter, one sickly green, one mottled rose. Never mind the color. Hold one in your hand, toss the other in the air and catch it with the hand holding the first one. When they hit, they emit a loud pop like the cap in a cap gun. Blasts safely over 200 times. Which should be enough to wear out both parent and child. Made in Taiwan.

Miniature 5–1/2" steel needle files. They come in the usual assortment of flat, wedge, triangular, and round shapes, (10) in all. They seem to be pretty uniformly fine with none that we would call coarse. Made in China, they come in a vinyl carrying case that snaps shut. Not as classy as some of the sets we have seen in the $18.00 range, but perfectly serviceable for most applications. And at a third the price.

Water war! Load the ammunition (water) and blast your opponent away with state-of-the-art rubber squirt guns! They're so advanced you don't even have to pull a trigger. Just squeeze the sides. Three different styles come in yellow, green and blue (our choice). They're only 2-1/2" long, so pick a small battle. Like the cat using your couch as a claw sharpener. That'll get your point across.

THE American classic novelty item (even ahead of the whoopee cushion and rubber vomit, we think) is a set of chattering choppers. Auto-dentures. Invented by Eddy Goldfarb in 1949, a man who made the Toy Industry Hall of Fame ahead of Milton Bradley, these are, not to put too fine a point on it, the sine qua non of gagdom, the ne plus ultra of spring-driven frivolity. Ours are 2-1/2" dia, with a wind-up key.

Nothing sets a young person's heart a-flutter like the mournful cry of a train whistle, a sound that promises adventure, mystery, freedom. We can't offer you any of that, but this may be the next best thing. You've likely seen wooden train whistles like this before-about 6" long, with holes in the top you blow into to create a high-pitched 'moving out' signal. But you've probably never seen them at a good surplus price before. Allons!
