Submersible Pumps
Here are the ins and outs of submersible pumps for your DIY fountain.These small electric pumps run on household current (115 VAC), are rated for continuous duty, have (4) suction–cup feet and an adjustable flow control, and take 1/2" ID tubing. Our indoor/outdoor version is roughly 2" sq x 2-1/4", has a 6–ft grounded power cord, and pumps 70 gal/hr @ 1 ft lift. Plug it in and go with the flow.

Mashers and Smashers
Porcelain mortars and pestles. Great heavy duty mortars, with sides that are easily 5/16" thick on the smaller ones, and up to 1/2" on the larger. The mortars are glazed outside, but rough inside, the better to grind, and have a pouring lip. The business ends of the pestles are unglazed, while the shafts are glazed. Very functional, very good looking!! So grind your own spices or lab concoctions as you prefer. You get a mortar and pestle as a single order.

Attach Anything!
You need this. Anybody who's ever made a third trip to the hardware store on the same day needs this. The (100) -- count 'em, (100) -- chrome vanadium driver and bit attachments include slotted, Phillips, square (Robertson) head, torx, hex and 12-point bits, plus security Phillips, torx and hex, and (4) different driver adapters (one of which, a super-cute cup-hook driver, has us oddly excited). They're all in a flip-top plastic case. How come it's surplus? If you turn it upside down and shake it, some of the bits fall out of their little size-marked slots. So don't do that. Or stick a thin sheet of foam inside it and all will be well.

Clever
That's what we say about this drill pump! Screw hoses to the threaded inlet and outlet valves (1" dia. standard garden hose size) and attach the 1/4" dia. shaft to your drill. Turn the shaft and it pumps for you. Great for aquariums, flood plains, waterbeds, maybe even a mechanical straw! Pump is 2-7/8" dia., 4-1/2" long with the in/out valves.

Lithium Keeper®
The manufacturer calls the model the Keeper®, perhaps because this new lithium thionyl chloride battery was made for a memory backup system. Also used in GPS systems and others, all of which explains the 15-year shelf life. Measures 1-7/8" long x 1" dia and is rated at 3.6VDC 8500mAH. Has 3/16" wide x 3/4" long axial solder tabs. Polarity is marked on the case. Not rechargeable. Great for robotics.

Our thinnest thermometer, and maybe the world's thinnest, is a 6" long x 1/2" wide strip of slim, flexible black plastic, with temperature readings for 0°F to 100°F in 3° increments and -18°C to 38°C in 5° increments. (Most liquid-crystal thermometers are limited to a 60° to 90° range.) Buy a pair and stick one each on your rear-view and side-view mirrors to measure the temperature on both sides of your car, or any other place you need an unobtrusive weather instrument. Or stick one on your forehead so everybody can see how hot you are. They're peel-and-stick, and can be easily trimmed to a shorter temp range. From HotSpots".
