Shipping

We charge a shipping and handling fee on all orders. Standard shipping charges are based on the dollar value of your order and are computed in your cart. Shipments to US destinations outside the contiguous 48 states (AK, HI, territories) will ship via the least expensive method and we will contact you with the cost before charging your card. If your order is very heavy, very large, or requires multiple boxes it may require the actual shipping costs to be charged, we will call or email you to arrange this. 

 

Sorry, we are able to ship and mail printed catalogs only to the US, its territories and possessions, and APO/FPO addresses.

 

Please verify the shipping address when placing your order, Autofill and payment services may have incorrect or different addresses saved than your intended one. American Science & Surplus is not responsible for website orders sent to an incorrect location and any costs associated with retrieving or reissueing these orders are the customer's responsibility. The customer is also responsible for any carrier carges relating to incorrect naming of rooms, thouroughfares and similar, ie. "St" instead of "Ave" and "Room" instead of "Suite" 

 

The costs of any special shipping requests such as Air, Multiple Shipping Addresses, Customer Designated Carrier or reshipment due to incorrect/incomplete provided shipping address will be borne by the customer. Shipping and Handling charges are non-refundable. Orders shipping on customer accounts will be charged a $5.00 fee to cover the carrier's fees for pickup from a different location.

 

Sometimes we offer discounts on shipping orders. These discounts only apply to orders shipped via '"Regular Shipping". Orders claiming a shipping discount and any other shipping method will be cancelled. Oversized or heavy packages, as well as packages shipped to HI, AK, APO/FPO,  or US territory addresses may be ineligible for shipping discounts or require additional shipping charges. Expedited Orders

We offer UPS Next Day Air, UPS Second Day Air and US Postal Service Priority Mail for Expedited Shipping. If you place your Expedited Shipping order by 1pm Central Time, Monday-Friday, we will ship your Expedited order that same business day. Orders placed after 1pm or requiring contact with you will ship the following business day.

 

Due to fluctuating shipping costs, Expedited Orders may require the actual shipping costs to be charged or an alternate shipping method selected, especially if the order is heavy, large, or requires multiple boxes . We will call or email you to arrange this. We will never change a ship method or charge without your approval.

 

-UPS currently only guarantees Next Day delivery.

-Expedited orders only count business days; deliveries are not made on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays. For example, a Next Day shipment placed on Friday would not be delivered until Monday.

-Next Day and Second Day cannot be used for P.O. Box addresses. The only expedited shipping available for P.O. Box delivery is Priority Mail.

Missing Packages

If you did not use Route to protect your shipment, please follow the steps below if the tracking details for your order show that it has been delivered, but you are unable to locate it.

-Look around the delivery location. Carriers will often try to secure packages by putting them behind or under other objects.

-Ask your household members or neighbors if they brought in the package.

-Check the delivery information to confirm the date and address.

-Wait one business day. It doesn't happen often, but occasionally carriers mark a package before it is delivered.

Returns

We accept all returns without question and will either issue a refund, credit your account or send you a replacement (limit once), as you choose. With a few exceptions, we will reimburse you for returned items in the same way you paid for them, according to the following:

 

If your item is not working as expected, please contact customer service or tech support at 888-724-7587. Often we can assist you in troubleshooting the item and get it working over the phone; hidden battery compartments and sticky hinges are common in surplus items. 

 

Returns must be made within 30 days of purchase and the product must be in a like-new condition. Please contact customer service at 888-724-7587 to begin the process. Items that are damaged, unsanitary or missing contents may be denied a return or assessed a fee. Some orders may be subject to a restock fee: holiday/seasonal items returned after the event, non-stock special order items and large quantities that require a special purchase to meet the requested quantity are examples. If an item is broken, shipped in error or has been misrepresented, we will issue a return label or send a shipper to pick up the package for return shipment and pay the charges. If you have received the item in good condition and it is as described in our write-up you will need to return it to us. Shipping charges are non-refundable and packages returned with postage due will have it deducted from your refund. Please include a copy of the packing slip in your return shipment.
