The Old School Grind

Nothing wrong with a blender, but sometimes an old school grinder is just what you need. We do our grinding with a classic mortar and pestle like this light-brown wooden one from Bene Casa. Mortar measures approx 4-1/2" tall x 3-1/4" dia (think: coffee cup), with a nice, indented curve at the bottom for a chalice-like base. Pestle is 5" tall x 1-1/4" dia, with a slight taper. Now, if only we could find that eye of newt.
